Snapchat is a proprietory app for sharing pictures, videos and messages that can be set to expire after the recipient has viewed them. It claims to use end-to-end encryption for videos and photos, but not messages or group chats. Snapchat collects sensitive personal data and telemetry which it sells to advertisers, and shows adverts in the "Stories" section of the app. If you want absolute security and privacy when sending messages, or the ability to send messages that expire after being read, consider Signal instead.
